Pheasant

On June 18, 2007, I was just coming out of the Niskonolith Provincial Park in Chase, BC and I saw this pheasant walking across the middle of the road. I have seen several pheasants before some in Ontario and some out here in BC but this is the first one I actually got a picture of.

Painted Turtle

On June 18, 2007, I was at the Niskonolith Provincial Park in Chase, BC and I saw a painted turtle. He was just sitting on the side of the hill. Turtles are really kind of neat. I like how they carry their houses on their backs. That would be really convenient if you traveled a lot.

Chase, BC

On June 18, 2007, I visited Chase, BC. This picture was taken on the winding mountainous road that takes you to the Niskonolith Provincial Park. This is over-looking the town of Chase. It is a very beautiful view.

Ashcroft, BC

On June 17, 2007, I visited Ashcroft, BC. Ashcroft is a nice peaceful little community. This bridge takes you over to the town. On the mountainside are some graduation dates listed. I think the earliest graduation date I saw was 1971.

Waterfall, Spences Bridge, BC

On June 17, 2007, I saw a waterfall in Spence's Bridge, BC. Spence's Bridge is a very small community located north west of Merritt. There are quite a few waterfalls in British Columbia but each one I see is interesting.

Nicola River

On June 17, 2007, I drove from Merritt, BC to Spence's Bridge, BC. You can see the Nicola River winding it's way along the mountainous landscape. The Nicola River would probably be a good place to fish. In some places the river was quite high and wide.

Downtown, Merritt, BC

On June 17, 2007, I drove through downtown Merritt, BC. It was a Sunday afternoon and it almost looks like Merritt is a ghost town because on this street there was nobody in sight.

Paul Brandt Mural, Merritt, BC

On June 17, 2007, I saw a mural of Paul Brandt on a building in Merritt, BC. There were other murals of country stars as well, such as Tanya Tucker, Lisa Brokaw and Alan Jackson. Merritt, BC is home of the Merritt Mountain Music Festival that takes each summer.

Sheep Farm, Merritt, BC

On June 17, 2007, I drove past a sheep farm on the way to Merritt, BC. There were a few lambs on the farm too. I really love lambs because they are so fuzzy and soft looking.

Nicola Lake

On June 17, 2007, I went for a drive to Merritt, BC and passed by Nicola Lake on the way there. Nicola Lake is a very big lake and there are mountains around it. It is a very pretty lake.

Duck

On Monday, June 11, 2007, I went for a drive to Paul Lake Provincial Park. I saw this duck sitting in the lake. I have no idea what kind of duck it was or whether it is a she or a he, although I'm assuming it is a he because of the bright colours. This duck didn't stray too far away from the one spot I saw it. I did see it go underwater for several minutes at a time. I've never seen this kind of duck before but I thought it was a nice little duck.

Cattle Round Up

On Monday, June 11, 2007, I went for a drive to Paul Lake Provincial Park and right outside of the park I saw a cattle round up. I have never seen a real cattle round up before so this was quite interesting to see. Now I know for sure I live in the wild, wild west.

South Thompson River Flooding, Kamloops, BC

On Friday, June 8, 2007, I took this picture of a tree submerged in the water. This is a result of the South Thompson river overflowing its banks. This picture was taken near the Grassland Park in Kamloops, BC.

River Flooding in Kamloops, BC

On Saturday, June 2, 2007, I went for a drive to the Grassland Park, Kamloops, BC. This is a picture of a field being flooded by a river located just west of Kamloops. As you can see the river has risen over its banks and it has flooded out a field. You can see the fence line in the water. There are some serious concerns about parts of British Columbia flooding this year and it is because we had a lot of snowfall this past winter and then hot temperatures just this past week. It was 30 degrees Celsius on the day I took this picture.

Minnows

On Sunday, June 3, 2007, at Paul Lake Provincial Park, the lake was full of minnows and all over the lake you could see good sized trout jumping out of the water. There were loons on the lake that were stirring up the minnows and when the loons would dive into the water the minnows would jump into the air.

Red Squirrel

On Sunday, June 3, 2007, I saw this red squirrel eating some pine cones on the ground at the Paul Lake Provincial Park. I didn't get too close to this squirrel or spend too much time around him because he seemed to be a little sickly. He was missing a big patch of fur on his back. This might have been due to fleas or he may have had a case of rabies. Either way, I didn't really want to find out.

Toad

On Sunday, June 3, 2007, I was at Paul Lake Provincial Park looking in ground squirrel holes to see if it was being occupied by a ground squirrel and in this particular hole I saw this toad. I think it was a perfect hiding spot for him.

Ground Squirrel

On Sunday, June 3, 2007, I saw some ground squirrels at the Paul Lake Provincial Park. Ground squirrels and just like prairie dogs. I had almost forgotten that British Columbia had these cute little critters. These animals let you get so close to them and then they pop themselves into a hole and come up through a hole somewhere else. They have tunnels dug under the grass that lead to holes everywhere. You do have to be careful not to step into the holes they create because you could hurt your ankles.

Goslings

On Sunday, June 3, 2007, there was a couple of families of Canada Geese at the Paul Lake Provincial Park. One family had five goslings, one family had six goslings and the other family had one. The goslings were so cute. I love seeing baby geese. In fact I love seeing baby animals of all kinds.

Wild Rose Bush

On Sunday, June 3, 2007, I saw this wild rose bush at the Paul Lake Provincial Park. You could smell the scent of roses in the air. It looked heavenly and smelled heavenly too.

Wild Daisies

On Sunday, June 3, 2007, I saw this wild daisy at the Paul Lake Provincial Park. Most of the wild daisies were all shriveled up and dead but this one was still nice and healthy.
